‘Going Country’ for Saskatoon Hotel Guests

June 16, 2016

When Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood announced that they were performing in Saskatoon, SK in June, they not only scheduled one concert, but rather SIX concerts over the June 9-12 weekend – some back-to-back. In true Airline hospitality, our Saskatoon hotels made use of a rare and exciting concert weekend to dazzle 1000’s of guests who were coming to town, staying at our three Saskatoon hotels: Travelodge, Hilton Garden Inn and Country Inn & Suites.

Guests and the general public were invited to attend a “We’re Going Country” Tailgate Party at Red Zone Premium Sports Bar, where we returned the bar to its country roots. Charter bus Red Zone Charter Bustransportation to the concert was provided for all hotel guests who were asked in advance if they would like to use the service. Red Zone is in close proximity to the Travelodge and Country Inn & Suites, however guests of Hilton Garden Inn were provided with transportation to Red Zone, from the hotel. This allowed them to have a safe, enjoyable night without waiting for a cab during the busy concert weekend.  Garth Brooks music serenaded guests along the ride.

Arriving at the hotel, guests were greeted with a Welcome Package that included:

  • A personalized welcome letter from President Betty Anne Latrace-Henderson
  • Event information, such as bus schedules and maps
  • Wristbands for a free bus ride from Red Zone to SaskTel Centre
  • $5 off breakfast coupon
  • A notice that they were automatically entered to win two tickets to see Keith Urban in September.

The tailgate parties were each 2 hours long and were held right before each concert. Airline Hotels provided free food (burgers, nachos, veggie tray, potato salad and more). $1 from each drink purchased during the tailgate party is being donated to charity, for a total of $6,300 – the charity to be announced shortly.

According to our company President, the tailgate party was Airline Hotels’ way of giving back tovalued guests. “We planned the tailgate party to say thank-you for their business, just like Garth Brooks wanted to thank guests. Plus word-of-mouth advertising is the best.”

Guests were also invited to post their experience to social media for a chance to win one of four $25 Red Zone gift cards during each tailgate party.

As Tammy Beauregard, Regional Director of Catering, greeted each guest table, she received a common response, “We received so many thank-you’s and hugs. The appreciation from our clients was overwhelming. Our President, Betty Anne, attended the event and greeted guests over the weekend and said they were absolutely blown away that we would do this for them just because they were staying at one of our properties.”

This guest response was posted to the Travelodge’s social media page, garnering 84 likes:

“I have to give the Travelodge a big bouquet of roses. First you upgraded our friend’s room to a suite so we could join them, then the hosts at check-in and in the bar were so nice. The tailgate party and then the bus to Garth Brooks were so appreciated. It was awesome, we were in the Sasktel Centre within 5 minutes after arriving and after the show we just walked down and there was our bus. Great job to all (of) the staff. We will be staying there again when we are in Saskatoon.”
